II./2.2.: Description of the dissection

összegzés

The brain weighs 1420 g, on its surface sulci and gyri are intact. On the cut-surface grey and white matter are sharply distinct. In the white matter of the left hemisphere, a malignant primary tumor can be observed that incorporates the caudal third of the centrum semiovale with unclear borders in a fan-tail shape, and which is hardly distinctive from the white matter around either in its color or consistence; only its slightly granulous feature makes it perceptible to the naked eye. It is striking as well that the tumor spreads without a sharp border infiltrating the cortex too, and thus the border between the cortical and subcortical areas is unclear. The size of the tumor at this level of cut is 4,8 x 2,5 cm, certain parts of the tumor tend forward and toward midline and the corpus callosum. The base of the brain is macroscopically intact, structure of the vasculature is usual.
