III./3.4.: Thermographic examination of the testes

Thermography (liquid crystal contact or thermovisional) is nowadays a rarely applied supplementary method. Increase in thermo-egress is indicated not only in tumor or inflammation but also in e.g. varicocele.

III./3.5.: Primarily choosable imaging methods in case of hydrocele

III./3.5.1.: Ultrasound examination

Fluid is visible as an anechoic, well defined area. Internal echos might be also observed in a complex hydrocele, which is caused by septae. If echos referring to septae, strings are included, we must think on blood (hematocele), pus (pyocele) or cholesterol crystals developing in chronic cases.

III./3.5.2.: MRI examination

Fluid collection shows a low signal on T1-weighted, and high signal on T2-weighted images. Internal septae can be also observed.
