IV./3.4.: Take home messages
-
- CT examination is the first-line method of choice to detect penetrating ulcer and its environment.
-
- Gastric contrast study must be performed even nowadays in postoperative situation and if endoscopy fails.
-
- In peptic ulcer, lateral view of contrast study can demonstrate the „bay” exceeding the gastric contour whose contours are regular, flat. „Hampton line” indicates the mucosal thickening which is a less X-ray absorbing straight line between the ulcer neck and ulcer crater.
-
- In anteroposterior view, peptic ulcer is indicated by the „tight spot” and the radial mucosal folds.
-
- The aim of the early postoperative study is to demonstrate if the gastric exhaustion is normal and if there is a suture insufficiency.
