GIST tumors can be often such huge in size, that their localization of origin can be barely differenciated. GIST appears as a mixed echogeneicity, especially if large in size, necrosis is common. Portal type propagation can be commonly detected by US. Regional lymphadenomegaly can be informative, which makes the diagnosis of GIST less likely.
