PET- (CT-) imaging is recommended for monitoring the efficacy of the therapy. Efficient therapies are currently already available, therefore, monitoring the activity of the primary tumor and the metastases is important. It is especially important in GIST, since the morphological evaluation only does not reflect the actual functional response to therapy, as seen by CT characteristics (Choi criteria, see below). Accordingly, morphological evaluation is limited in the establishment of tumor activity and chances of the patient.

III./3.6.: Angiography

Angiography has a role in the detection of bleeding location in GIST.
