- In case of diverticulitis, especially in its acute phase, barium suspension enema and air insufflation is prohibited.

- Chronic, recidivant diverticulitis makes the bowel wall thick, and stenotic lumen, obstruction may develop.

- Diverticulum perforation may be covered, encapsuled.

- In case of pylethrombosis, venous thrombosis (possibly including gas) and also diverticulitis can be detected by contrast enhanced CT.
