III./3.3.: Magnetic resonance (MR) examination of the testes

MRI examination has a supplementary role in the examination of testes. Its advantage is the ability of visualizing both testes together, moreover, accurate anatomic information can be obtained about this region along with the inguinal region. Excellent tissue contrast of the MRI makes it capable to differentiate the processes as well. Yet, MRI has a secondary role besides the US, that it is used only in the clarification of dubious, not unequivocal cases, furthermore, if e.g. the intra- or extratesticular location of a lesion is undefinable unequivocally. In addition, information on distinct tissue characteristics of intratesticular lesions can be obtained.
