III./4.2.: Epidemiology
Incidence of congenital heart defects is 8‰ among newborns. Incidence is higher among stillborn (3-4%) and aborted fetuses (10-25%). Incidence of DORV among live born is 1-2%, thus DORV considered a rare congenital heart defect. However VSD frequently associated to DORV (ventricular septum defect, VSD) is the most common congenital heart defect with left to right shunt. Congenital heart defects associated with cyanosis are most frequently seen in Fallot-tetralogy.
